This plaque commemorates the loss of three innocent lives in Canada's worst subway accident in Toronto on August 11, 1995.
I want to pay homage to Kinga Szabo, Christina Munar Reyes and Hui Xian Lin as they lost their lives as a result of this tragedy.
At the time of this accident the Toronto Transit Commission did not have an afternoon shift. This incident clearly demonstrated the need to provide 24/7 coverage of trained personnel and as a result the crew I later led was formed.
The first time I stood alone at track level reading this plaque where the accident had occurred I cried. It reminded me of why my efforts and that of my crew is so important.
